A Conversation with Susan Masterson, PhD
Recently, we welcomed Susan Masterson, PhD, into the Artful and Educational virtual studios. We met to discuss the value of lifelong learning, and that led us to discuss the learning curve that exists whenever people of any age are faced with something new. We talked about creating a way of living that is centered around learning, and shared a common joy of seeking knowledge both within and outside of traditional learning environments. For anyone interested in neuroplasticity, you will hear Susan’s thoughtful description and helpful analogies that make it easier to understand. Listen below and leave a comment to let us know what you think!

Susan’s Bio:
Formally trained as a psychologist, my career has taken me on quite a journey. Through it all the common thread has been brain science and executive functioning skills. Prior to completing my doctorate, I wrote behavior management plans and did staff training in agencies who serve adults and kids with developmental disabilities. My love of brain development took me to my next stop, working in rehabilitation hospitals with patients recovering from traumatic brain injuries. Soon after that I used brainwave (EEG) biofeedback integrated with individual therapy for teens with ADHD, and adults with mood and impulse control disorders. Once I completed my doctorate, I provided education and counseling to groups covering self-regulation, trauma, and substance abuse recovery. Now I create printable and digital resources for teachers, parents and helpers who work with kids needing extra help solidifying skills that are needed to build all we learn upon.
